Dynamic Body Balancing

A combination of Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, and Biofield Therapy

Developed by Dr. Carol Phillips DC, Dynamic Body Balancing (DBB) is a gentle, hands-on therapeutic approach that works with the body's fascial and craniosacral systems to unwind patterns of tension and restore greater balance and ease.

DBB combines craniosacral therapy, myofascial release and unwinding, and biofield therapy to address physical and emotional stressors that can affect the body's natural ability to regulate.

When the body experiences ongoing stress and tension, the nervous system can become overwhelmed and the musculoskeletal system may develop protective movement patterns. Over time, these patterns can interfere with the body's ability to maintain balance and homeostasis. DBB gently works with these patterns, allowing the body to unwind, reorganize, and return toward greater ease and regulation.

Fully clothed, and sitting, lying, as well as standing, a DBB session lasts an hour. Come prepared to move - stretchy pants or shorts, t-shirt or tank, and a sweatshirt for layering.

Why Work With Mom and Baby Together?

Mom and baby are deeply connected, not only emotionally, but through the ongoing process of co-regulation.

  • A newborn's nervous system is still developing and relies heavily on mom for help with regulation

  • Babies are constantly taking in cues from the people caring for them through touch, movement, voice, breathing, facial expression, and presence

  • Pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum period can leave both Mom and baby carrying patterns of tension

  • When Mom is continually “on,” tense, or overwhelmed, it can be harder for both of them to find moments of settling

  • When Mom has an opportunity to slow down and regulate, she can offer her baby a more settled environment as well

  • Working with Mom and baby together allows us to consider the relationship between their bodies and nervous systems, rather than treating them as completely separate

  • Sometimes supporting Mom is an important part of supporting baby, and sometimes baby needs their own gentle work, too

  • The goal isn't to make Mom responsible for how her baby feels... it is to support both members of the relationship

Sometimes Mom needs the session. Sometimes baby does. Sometimes they both do

Mom's Nervous System Relief

  • For the mom (in any stage of life) who feels like she is always “on”

  • Supports the body in letting go of long-held patterns of tension, pain, or trauma

  • Creates space for deeper relaxation and easier breathing

  • Helps you get out of your head and back into your body

  • Gives your nervous system a chance to settle and truly reset (deep breaths not working anymore??) rather than constantly respond

  • May address ongoing migraines, headaches, PMS, anxiety, or sleep issues

All Adults

  • Anyone - men, women, teens, young, old - can benefit from Dynamic Body Balancing

  • Headaches & migraines: works with tension patterns through the head, neck, jaw, spine, and craniosacral system

  • After accidents or falls: supports the body's unwinding and reorganization after physical impacts, including car accidents, falls, and other injuries

  • Chronic pain & tension: works with fascial restrictions, protective holding patterns, and areas of persistent tension

  • Sleep difficulties: creates space for the body to settle and shift toward a more restful state

  • Nervous system restoration: supports the body's ability to move out of prolonged patterns of stress and into greater regulation

  • Trauma & stored tension: offers a gentle, body-based approach for working with patterns of tension that may develop following stressful or traumatic experiences

  • Jaw, neck & shoulder tension: addresses interconnected patterns throughout the head, neck, jaw, spine, and fascial system

  • Vision-related tension: works with the delicate structures and fascial relationships around the cranium, including the sphenoid, which plays an important role in the structure of the orbits and visual system

Your body remembers. Whether the pattern began with an accident, an injury, chronic stress, poor sleep, years of tension, or simply the cumulative demands of life, the body can develop ways of protecting itself that eventually become its new normal. Dynamic Body Balancing gently works with those patterns rather than forcing the body to change, giving it an opportunity to unwind, reorganize, and find greater ease.
